What does PRP mean?

PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma. It involves taking a blood sample, separating its components and injecting the prepared plasma into the scalp. The American Academy of Dermatology discusses PRP as a hair-loss treatment option with repeat appointments. This is a procedure, so assessment and practitioner responsibility matter.

HLC describes PRP on its injectable solutions page. Ask the Brick Lane team to confirm the practitioner, location and current availability for your enquiry.

Discuss your history before discussing a package

Explain when the thinning began, which areas concern you and what you have already tried. Bring relevant medical advice and a current medicine list, including supplements. Tell the practitioner about previous procedures and any concerns you have about blood sampling or injections.

Ask why PRP is being proposed for the type of hair loss being assessed. You should understand what is known, what remains uncertain and what the practitioner would recommend if you choose not to have injections.

Five questions that make the quote more useful

  • Who performs the procedure, and what training and registration do they hold?
  • What are the relevant risks and reasons treatment might be unsuitable?
  • How is progress recorded and when will the plan be reviewed?
  • Does the quote include the proposed course, reviews and any later sessions?
  • Who provides aftercare advice if you have a concern?

Do not use another person’s photograph as your expected result. Ask what a reasonable outcome would look like in your own situation and how the team will assess whether the course has helped.

Keep the agreed costs and review arrangements together so you can compare options without relying on an introductory price.

Arrange the right initial consultation at Brick Lane
